This fun, fast-paced quilting class is perfect for absolute beginners and for those who’ve dabbled in quilting and want a satisfying, low-pressure project.

Using the quilt-as-you-go method, you’ll create a beautiful, practical quilted placemat while learning the essential building blocks of quilting — without the overwhelm of a full quilt. It’s a great introduction to quilting or a confidence-boosting refresher.

This class is designed to give you quick wins, real understanding, and a finished project — perfect if you’ve ever felt intimidated by quilting but always wanted to try.

The Project:

-You’ll make one or more quilt-as-you-go placemats (time and pace dependent), learning how quilting layers are built, stitched, and finished as you go.

This method allows you to:

-Quilt and piece at the same time -Avoid handling bulky layers -Achieve professional-looking results quickly

Skill Level --> Beginner & Beyond No quilting experience needed. You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and sewing a straight line.

Beginner placemat kit: pre-cut fabrics (choice of 3 colourways – dark, neutral, or light), batting, thread & binding
Use of our quality sewing machines (Brother A80 or Bernina 335)
Step-by-step instructions to take home
Small-group tuition (max. 6 students)
Unlimited tea & coffee (and possibly baked treats baked by Lorena!)

What to bring

Optional: your own sewing machine (with power cord, foot pedal & accessories) Please note: machines need to be carried up stairs
Fabric scissors & sewing kit (available to purchase in-store if needed)
Lunch for longer sessions (fridge & microwave provided)
